It generally comes down to your total volume. As a rule of thumb, if your shipment is over 15 cubic meters (CBM) or you need the fastest possible ocean transit, an FCL (Full Container) is the best choice. If your shipment is smaller and your timeline is flexible, LCL (Consolidated) is highly cost-effective because you share the container and only pay for the space you use. We will always analyze your cargo to recommend the smartest route.
Ocean rates are based on the volume and weight of your cargo, the specific routing, and the equipment needed. Rates also fluctuate depending on current market demand and peak shipping seasons. For LCL, you are priced per cubic meter (CBM), while FCL is a flat rate per container. We calculate all the complex port fees, surcharges, and transit costs to give you one clear, straightforward quote.
The earlier, the better. We generally recommend reaching out 2 to 3 weeks before your cargo is ready to ensure we secure the best rates and equipment. However, if you have a more urgent timeline, contact us anyway—our team can often tap into our network to find available space and get your freight moving.
At a minimum, you will need a Commercial Invoice, a detailed Packing List, and a Bill of Lading. Depending on what you are shipping and where it is going, you may also need a Certificate of Origin or specific customs declarations.
